Ehren Richardson, Managing Director

As the Managing Director at Saltmine Software, Ehren is responsible for the strategic planning and operation of the company.

Helping to launch the electronic discount trading division eLarkin.com as a licensed securities trader, Ehren got a taste for the excitement of enterprise in the digital world and never looked back. Founding Thrive Media Inc. in 1998 gave him a strong foundation in creating web enabled, commercial software and complementary partnerships. "Royal Derby™", a Multi-player, Video Horse Racing Arcade Device created in partnership with SEGA Gaming was one of his notable successes and the intellectual rights of Royal Derby™ were eventually sold to Shuffle Master Corporation (Nasdaq: SHFL). In 2000 Ehren helped co-create Big Prizes Inc. an advertiser sponsored games and sweepstakes website that generated 1.7 million unique visitors per month which was acquired in 2001 by Jackpot.com, now a subsidiary of the Connexus Corporation. Since then Ehren has structured game technology licensing agreements with Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, Real Networks, Unilever Corp and others.

Ehren enjoys employing his knowledge and experience at Saltmine Software and appreciates the opportunity to work with such a gifted and dedicated team.

Kris McFarlin, Director of Research & Development

In his role at Saltmine Software, Kris is often struck by the pace at which technology evolves and the alacrity with which his team adapts, responds, and contributes to that evolution.

Possessing an enviable list of career successes to date, whether his primary task was enterprise level application design, interactive game development, or R&D team leadership, like any technology professional, his goal has always been innovation. The following is a list of those projects for which Kris was responsible that bear the hallmark of innovation:

  • "Laura Croft Tomb Raider Jeep Challenge" promoted by Yahoo! and MSN.
  • The design and implementation of the technology used to broadcast the first 'pay per view' simulcast of a National Hockey League (NHL) game over the Internet in 2001
  • The development of technology which allowed clients to rent video games online using Microsoft Digital Rights Management through Electric Playground Television, the Telly award winning, syndicated TV show about video games (http://www.elecplay.com/)

Prior to joining Saltmine Software, Kris' services were engaged as a consultant with several high profile organizations including Bell Canada, The Vancouver Canucks NHL Team, Rainmaker Digital Films, Travel Alberta (Alberta Tourism), Arcteryx (now Addidas).

Dennis Giesbrecht, Director of Information Systems

Though it's the flashy graphics and intuitive user interfaces that grab all the attention, the systems that take place behind the scenes to make all that magic possible is equally exciting.

During the last ten years of his career in Information Systems Design and Administration, Dennis managed or advised teams in all facets of software development and support. Prior to his role at Saltmine Software Inc., he was the Director of IT at Thrive Media Inc., which offered him an introduction to the best practices in designing and governing information systems in a complex environment. Further training for his current position was attained in his role as senior technician for IT Electronics, Canada, which provides technical services to Fortune 500 companies including SONY, Mitsubishi Electronics, and Packard Bell.

No bio of Dennis would be complete without the mention that he has served in the Canadian Armed Forces as an intelligence officer (Lieutenant in rank) and remains a member of the Canadian Armed Forces Holding Reserve. This, in addition to his formal education in Systems Engineering (he is a certified Microsoft Systems Engineer)) and A+ hardware certification has certainly influenced his thorough and meticulous approach to system design.
